Dear readers, AlterEconomics brings to your notice the article about the impact of urbanization on atmospheric pollution in Russian Regions.

It is obvious that air pollution, which occurs because of economic activity, leads to a significant deterioration of the environment for life on the Earth. One of the most powerful factors of atmospheric pollution is urbanization, the regional influence of which is the subject of econometric research by Oleg Mariev, Natalia Davidson and Irina Borzova.
The results show that
1) a rise in the level of urbanization, calculated as a proportion of the urban population, increases the level of pollutant emissions, and
2) the increased costs of technological innovations, in the light of urbanization, lead to a reduction in the volume of emissions and serves as one of the basic solutions to the environmental problems of Russian regions.
