The phenomenon of infrastructure as an object of economic research

Abstract:

The evolution of the concept of infrastructure in economic science. The authors of the study examined attitudes to this phenomenon by the founders of economic theory of Adam Smith and David Rekardo, representatives of Marxist political economy, Marx, Engels, and modern economists, analyzed a number of definitions in the field of infrastructure, given the author’s definition. The article traced evolution of the concept of infrastructure from the general conditions of social production and notation of objects and structures that ensure the normal operation of the armed forces to modern views, representing an infrastructure as an integral part of the economy, inherent in all social and economic systems. In the historical section highlights three phases of infrastructure development. The authors investigated the components of infrastructure, highlight the different levels, types and functions. In the future, it is possible to consider the regional infrastructure in the narrower aspect and create a methodology to assess it. The proposed method of estimating the infrastructure unit based on the principles of indicative analysis. The paper presents a set of indicators covering, according to the authors, the basic elements of the infrastructure sector in its modern sense. The methodical apparatus further allow to quantify the security of the Russian Federation regions and infrastructure elements will be the basis for the creation of a system of measures and activities to overcome the crisis in this area, the development of long-term plans for regional development.
