Barriers of Social Innovations

Abstract:

The paper presents a study that aimed to develop barriers of social innovations. The essence of the concept of «social innovation», and barriers that based on the theoretical and practical analysis are presented in order to achieve the object of the article. Barriers are divided into three groups: the problem of protectionism and the risk aversion; human-asset specificity required for the implementation of social innovations; problems of networks and collaborations. The results show that social innovations, regardless of location, have approximately the same barriers. In addition, a model of open social innovation has been presented, which may overcome the barriers.
