Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to develop the theoretical provisions of the study of the investment potential of territorial socio- economic systems. To achieve this goal, the following tasks have been set and solved: first, the main theoretical approaches to the essence and definition of investment potential that are available in scientific publications have been considered and analyzed. Secondly, the researchers’ views on the role and place of the financial sector in the processes of formation, distribution and use of investment potential have been considered. The article substantiates the need for a comprehensive analysis of the investment potential of the territory in the context of the main institutional sectors allocated within the system of national accounts (SNA): households, public administration, non-financial corporations, financial corporations and non-profit organizations). At the same time, special attention is paid to the sector of financial corporations, since it plays a key role in the process of accumulating temporarily free financial resources and their movement not only between regions, but also between institutional sectors and has a direct impact on the resource component of the region’s investment potential. The thesis about the need for a balanced development of the investment potential of the main institutional sectors of the SNA is put forward.
